Scoring in the rain
The boys knew both the weather and the fact we were a player down meant they all had to put in a good game. And that is exactly what they did. Match report by Hayden Morley
It was a wet and freezing morning. When we arrived Sumeet said that we only had 10 players (and one of them were carrying a slight injury). We knew it was going to be a tough game. We started to warm up as the rain was pouring down on us.
Super Skills kicked the game off - after Jonny and their captain had a game of rock, paper, scissors - paper sadly beats rock!
We pressed well as a team and made sure we moved the ball around the pitch. We passed the ball well down the pitch. Hayden was passed the ball and the ball slowly went passed the keeper to make it 0-1 to Pinnstars!
We knew we couldn't relax as we were still at a disadvantage being a player down, but this made us more determined. The passing today was so good by us all. Jonny pressed well and ran through 3/4 players passed to Hayden but shot goes wide.
Super Skills break and have a shot but their was a great clearance by Finlay that opened up a chance for Rian to shoot the other end, but keeper saves.
Amaar then has a chance, weaving through a number of players passes to Akshar but keeper again makes a good save.
Finlay, as usual, took some fantastic corners with one reaching Jonny, whose shot goes just over the goal. Super Skills kept coming back and were pressing hard but our defence worked hard and put in a good game making vital clearances.
Akshar has another shot saved by the keeper with Super Skills breaking and Laksh making a great flying save to prevent a goal.
Jonny then powers through multiple players not once but twice to score the next 2 goals.
Second half, we hit the floor running and press well. Finlay takes a corner and it meets Jonnys head which took the ball just wide of the goal.
Hayden then makes a run through and decides to take the shot that went flying past the goalie.
Super Skills restart after the goal, but with a great interception from Niam, Pinnstars pass the ball well, Finlay crosses into the box and Rahul scores.
Pinnstars keep playing well as a team passing the ball well, this allowed Finlay to break and score a well deserved goal to go with his great performance.
First game of the season, 3 points, 6 goals... Roll on the next game.
